Public law should be public.
That has been my work for more than a quarter century. The next phase is about ensuring that legal AI is responsible and that its benefits are broadly distributed to increase justice.
I co-founded Fastcase in 1999 to democratize the law and to make legal research smarter. Through a merger with vLex, we built the largest legal database ever assembled — with the law of more than 110 countries in a single database of more than1 billion structured legal documents. That work continues at Clio, and in classrooms at Georgetown and the University of Chicago, where my courses cover robotics, autonomous vehicles, and generative AI.
Current work: making lawyers irreplaceable as AI eats the brute force compute tasks that they hate.
